Brigade Information

Winter 2020

Where and When?

The date and location of our winter brigade trip are being worked out! We will be sponsoring a trip most likely the second week of January. There is no application process to attend a brigade. We encourage and endorse anyone who is interested in going on a brigade (regardless of major, year, etc.) to participate in one.

How Much?

For an update on financials, there is a $990 program fee to MEDLIFE nationals which covers all meals, housing, and transportation (except airline ticket) abroad. The total cost of going on the brigade will be $990 + the cost of your flight. We would like to also mention two additional things:

1) MEDLIFE national headquarters has informed us that they will be offering need-based financial aid to chapter members who intend on attending a brigade trip and qualify as low income students. See our home page for more information on deadlines.

2) Our Cornell chapter has decided that we will be offering four $150 scholarships to help with the cost of the program fee for members. We will explain logistics for applying for these scholarships in our next weekly update.

What's a Brigade All About?

The brigades are the highlight of what MEDLIFE Cornell has to offer to its club members. They allow you to volunteer directly in the mobile clinics hosted by MEDLIFE in Peru and Ecuador through shadowing doctors, nurses, helping run the clinics and teaching kids how to brush their teeth! Additionally, you participate in community development projects, such as building staircases.
